Contractors Dinner

Last night, Black Lumber, lumber and hardware store that I always use, threw a party for their contractor customers. Since I am a new contractor this was my first time and I will definitely be going back next year. I think it is really wonderful that they appreciate their customers enough to buy enough steaks, hamburgers, hotdogs, and sides to feed them and their families. I doubt Lowe’s, Menard’s, or The Home Depot do anything like that for their contractor customers. The party is held in their main warehouse and vendors from the different products that they sell set up their booths and you can get information as well as “swag” (free stuff) from them. I learned a little more about some of the different products that I use everyday as well as some products that I will be using soon. They also have doorprizes available from each of those vendors as well as one big door prize that Black Lumber gives away. The guy I work with won an XL golf shirt which he gave to me because he wears a medium at most. I was not so lucky and only walked away with the shirt that he gave me. The grand prize that Blacks was giving away was a stainless steel grill with two side burners. Construction Resources, my first employer in the field of carpentry, won the grill but now they have to somehow split or draw straws to figure out who takes it home.
